Just Dance is a game in which players learn (follow along to) dance moves to popular songs. There is a wide range of music from the 80’s and 90’s featured on the game. It only took one class before word spread the Wii Dance was a must attend fitness class. After dancing to all the songs on Just Dance about 4 to 5 times, a guest graciously donated Just Dance 2, which features even more songs and an even wider variety of music. Just Dance 2 has songs such as “It’s Raining Men” by Weather Girls (which I saw Adam dance to a few times…hehe), “Tik Tok” by Ke$ha, and another guest favorite, “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner. But the song that took the cake, the all time guest favorite was none other than “Jump” by Kris Kross!!
That’s right, this popular early 90’s hip hop classic had the guests jumping high in the air, and busting out old school hip hop moves that I had never even seen before! Yes, I have to admit that it was pretty hilarious to watch, but honestly, you can’t just watch people play Just Dance, you have to get in there and join in on the fun!
Just Dance is a great aerobic option if you own a Wii gaming system. It really gets your heart pumping and even has a workout setting that tracks the calories you burn while playing the game! It’s great for parties or rainy days when you don’t feel like driving to the gym.
Two guests loved it so much they even ordered Just Dance the Michael Jackson Experience on for everyone to dance to. And oh boy, was it funny watching everyone try to Moon Walk and the whole room perform “Thriller” in unison!
There’s some hidden footage of Fitness Specialist, Jeff Ford, breaking it down that I’m going to have to find for your entertainment. If you have ever seen Jeff dance, you know it’s pretty entertaining. I’ll just say, there were a few songs that ended early because his scores were too low.
I’ll end by saying this—there are plenty of ways to have fun while working out. Don’t look at it as a daunting task, but make it fun and interesting. If you don’t like a certain activity, then don’t do it. Try dancing, martial arts, or water fitness. Here are a few other Wii games that I’ve heard are a blast to play by yourself and with others, while also really getting your heart pumping: Just Dance, Mario vs. Sonic at the Olympic Games, Dance Dance Revolution, and Zumba.
